During lunch Thursday, March 23, Valley Center Athletic Director Mike Cummings summoned members of the Jaguars football teams into the library to introduce their new head football coach — Sidaron Wilson.
Coach Wilson takes over for longtime head coach Rob Gilster.
“I am excited to continue what Coach Gilster has established here," Wilson said. "Growing up in the North County I have always respected the culture and deep traditions of Jaguar football. I am honored to lead the next generation of players here at Valley Center.”
Wilson played defensive back at Poway High before playing collegiate football at Arizona State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Sidaron joins Valley Center High School after 10 years of coaching football with his last three years at Del Norte High School. Prior to Del Norte, he coached at San Ysidro, Serra, and Ramona High Schools.
During a half hour talk with the players, Wilson emphasized that he and his staff will display integrity, character, and honor, promised effective and knowledgable leadership, a positive attitude and 100% focus in the development of the players and young men.
