On April 27, three Valley Center Pauma Unified School District members were honored at the 2023 Leadership in Biliteracy Symposium at the Prado at Balboa Park.
The symposium acknowledges people who have made significant contributions in promoting biliteracy. VCPUSD Teacher Adriana Kuenzi and Principal Veronica Ruiz we both recognized as Leadership in Biliteracy Honorees.
Kuenzi, a first Grade Dual Language Teacher at Lilac Elementary School, has been an advocate for our second language learners in our dual language program. Students in Kuenzi's class enjoy learning through games, songs, dances, and hands-on activities. She brings in culturally relevant content and emphasizes the beauty of diverse thinking. She is knowledgeable about biliteracy and sets a clear vision for the success of our students.
Ruiz, a TK-2 Principal at Valley Center Primary School, has been an outstanding leader in our Dual Language program as a teacher, instructional coach, and now as a principal. She is extremely knowledgeable in language acquisition research and strategies, which she readily shares with her school and district staff. Veronica has led many professional development opportunities addressing bilingualism and shares best practices with her team.
Student Catarina Lucas Herrera was also recognized as the Bea Gonzalez Biliteracy Scholarship Recipient.
VCPUSD congratulates all of the honorees for their accomplishments!
